14u Cats winners in Mizuno Skills Competition

WE GOT SKILLS; 14u players win 1st place in skills competition!

Rain may have shortened the Mizuno NIT tournament the weekend of April 25-27 at Blue Valley Rec. Complex in Overland Park, KS, but it didn't stop several 14u Cats from showing off their skills and bringing home a little hardware for their efforts.

The Mizuno NIT featured a skills contest where players competed for highest pitching velocity, number of home runs, baserunning relays and the star throwing drill.

When it was all said and done, the Cats, represented by Emily Heldenbrand, Alexis Wilds, Lilli Weir, Tawnie Griffin and Kloee Arbuckle, won first place in the star drill with a time of 7.5 seconds. The baserunning relay team (Kloee, Emily, Tawnie, Alexis) hung on to the fastest time for most of the day but eventually ended up in 2nd place, behind Lawrence Phoenix-Ploeger. And, last but not least, Lilli got the ball over fence enough times to finish as runner up in the home run contest, connecting with three out of eight pitches from a pitching machine.

Congratulations to these players for working hard on their fundamental skills!
