PFC 2002B Boca team wins a National Title!

Princeton FC 2002 Boys Boca represented the Mid-Atlantic Region in this year's US Club National Cup XVII Finals - July 20-24. After winning the Mid-Atlantic Regionals (June 30-July 3 in Somerset, NJ) the PFC Boys traveled to Aurora, CO to compete on the highest stage for the National Tittle.

On the first day of the competition the team had to verse South Dakota United Crew. After a scoreless first half the Boca boys found the opposition net twice in the second half to win the game 2-0. Jose Rodriguez-Chacon and Ian Pompliano were able to convert two of the many goal scoring opportunities the team created in that game.
On day two the opponent from GPS Charleston South Carolina, who also won their first game,  were determined to stop Boca and started the game very well. The Boca boys responded and leveled the play, but no goals were scored in the first half. Immediately after the break Princeton used a defensive mistake and Herbert Ramirez capitalized for 1-0. In the remaining minutes both teams produced interesting soccer, but Boca kept the lead to win the game.
On the third day the opposition from Indiana - Y16 International 02 did their best to take something from the game, but Boca outclassed them. Brandon Sagbo scored the first goal after a very good combination with Daniel Ingersoll. Brandon was accurate from 15 yards away to give Boca the lead. The opponent had no plans to give up and made a few efforts to equalize in the second half. In one of those situations a free kick was rewarded and the Internationals tied 1-1. Boca responded well and just a few minuted later after a good dribble-penetration Silvio Aparicio was fouled just outside the penalty box, left side of the goal. The team's free kick specialist from that range and angle Daniel Ingersoll stepped up and placed the ball perfectly in the far side of goal - unstoppable shot to give the win 2-1.

After winning all three group games PFC Boca booked its place in the Final. In the other group the team from North Carolina - FC Cardinals Man City finished on top. The Final stage was set.

In the Final game both teams performed at a very high level. The Cardinals had a chance to score in the first 20 sec of the game and only the reaction of Boca's GK Jared Bell prevented what would have been a very bad start for the Princeton FC boys. Boca recovered quickly and tried to establish control of the game by using their signature style - quick ball movement. It was at min 25 when Boca had a very good chance to score as Ian Cabrera crossed the ball from the left flank to Aron Szoke, unfortunately Aron just missed the target. First half finished 0-0.
Boca started better the second half and Daniel Ingersoll scored with a long range shot for 1-0. Again Boca this time through Brandon Sagbo scored a few minutes later to take a 2-0 lead. Brandon received a very good pass from Daniel and accurately shot the ball past the goalkeeper.
Followed some difficult minutes as the Cardinals showed determination to get back in the game. They managed to score after one through pass caught the Boca defense by surprise, the Cardinals forward was accurate - 2-1. The team from North Carolina tried their best to score another goal by throwing numbers in attack, but they increasingly left their goal exposed. In one counterattack Ian Pompliano missed from a close range. Again Ian had a chance with just a few minutes left in the game - this time he was accurate and gave PFC Boca a 3-1 lead and seal the tittle of National Champions.

After the game Head Coach Yordan Hristov shared:
"It has been an amazing journey. This is a special group of players. We are very happy to be able to bring the National Cup to Princeton. The support from our Princeton FC family and the entire community has been phenomenal. I hope we made everyone proud with this achievement and I hope we can inspire the young players to dream big. Our Club believes and works hard for true youth player development. Winning the National Tittle is a reward for all our efforts and dedication."

Congratulations to all players, parents, coaching staff and the entire PFC family!
