Princeton FC would like to congratulate the U16 girls Napoli team on a great season and for
their accomplishments during the NJYS Presidents Cup.
After winning the State Cup, the girls advanced to the NJYS Regionals tournament hosted by West Virginia. PFC started their first game out strong against Hotspurs Elite 2002 from Pennsylvania West where Neena O’Mara scored off of a penalty kick. O’Mara remained calm and placed her shot in the lower corner of the goal. Sophia Kavulich took a beautiful corner kick that forced the opponent to clear the ball into their own goal which lead Napoli to a 2-0 victory. During the second game, Princeton FC dominated Pipeline SC 02 Black from Maryland.
Napoli won 3-2 to secure their spot in the semifinals. Neena O’Mara scored off of a penalty to make 1:0. Early in the second half Emily DeNero took a powerful left footed shot from about 25 yards out to make it 2:1. In the last minute of the game, Dylan Welborne went 1 on 1 with the keeper and chipped the ball over her head to finish the game 3-2. In their third game in their group against WVFC 2002 Black, PFC Napoli started out strong with a goal from Dylan Welborne. WVFC scored two goals and PFC Napoli was not able to score in the second half despite their efforts. In the semifinal game against Montgomery United from Pennsylvania East, Napoli took the lead with a beautiful long distance shot from Molly Frain. The girls conceited a goal with four minutes left in the game and lost 2-1 in the second overtime. They are the first girls team from Princeton FC to have reached this level of competition and the club is very proud for the way the girls have represented the club.

Napoli showed great determination, skill, energy, and teamwork and look forward to the upcoming season.
